Art, Horror Movies, and Hitting the Road Again: Spring Show Recap
Since my last post, Perry (my husband + fellow artist) and I packed up our work and headed to Nightmare Weekend in Chicago, where we both had tables in Artist Alley. The venue was buzzing — and the main event? The iconic Elvira, Mistress of the Dark! Fans showed up in droves for photos and autographs, and while the energy was high, it wasn’t quite the right crowd for big art sales.
Still, we made the most of our weekend. We met some amazing fellow artists, enjoyed our cozy hotel room, and stayed up late watching cult horror classics like Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Critters, and The Gate. We laughed, relaxed, and made memories — sometimes, that’s worth just as much as a sold-out booth (…almost 😅).
We rolled back home Monday and barely had time to catch our breath before heading off again — this time to Altoona, WI for the River Prairie Festival, our first outdoor event of the season! And wow, what a difference. The sun was shining, the setting was beautiful, and the vibes were absolutely perfect.
We each had our own setup:
🎨 Perry with his dark digital dreamworlds at Signum Somnia
🔮 Me with my copper creations under Eleven After Seven
It felt good to stretch out into a full booth, meet new people, connect with fellow artists, and enjoy the community that builds around these events.
Now we’re packing again — but this time, we’re going in different directions:
🛡️ I’m heading to Janesville, WI for a Renaissance Faire — my very first! I’ve had so many patrons suggest that my electroformed jewelry would be a great fit for this kind of event, and I’m thrilled to finally give it a try. Bring on the cloaks, corsets, and fantasy vibes!
🍺 Perry will be heading to Minneapolis, MN for Liquid Zoo at BauHaus Brewing during Art-A-Whirl Weekend, a huge yearly celebration of the arts. There will be music, art, tasty drinks, and (hopefully!) lots of new eyes on his work.
We’re hoping to return home next week with tired feet, full hearts, and fingers crossed — sales to help keep our little art-powered life running.
Thanks for being here on this journey with us. Whether you’re shopping our work, stopping by at shows, or just following along from your phone — we appreciate you deeply. 💛
