Hi!  I'm Jamie.  Wife of an Artist Husband, Mom to the most amazing little boy, pet mom of a Bernadoodle named Benny, Cat named Zephyr, Guinea Pig named Taffy, and Gecko named Echo.  We all reside in Eau Claire, wi.  We survive by creating Art.  I also co-own an art gallery/gift shop in our downtown called Tangled Up In Hue where you can find locally handmade goods and art.

I started electroforming in February of 2024.  I was in search of an art form that was interesting, challenging, and sparks a fire with me.  I found that with this art form.  I am in love with the process.  From sourcing materials, designing the piece, and the science of completion.  I can only hope I find support for my work and recipients can feel the love and intentions I've put into each piece.

Electroforming is an art and a science.  I like to consider this art a form of alchemy.  To electroform an object, this requires many supplies but most importantly and simply an acid bath, copper (anode) and an object to be plated (cathode).
My pieces are hand sculpted with epoxy clay or fimo clay, depending on the look i want to achieve.  Stones and crystals are added.  Then the portion I want to be plated with copper is painted with conductive paint, while any portion I do not want plated is protected with liquid latex.  Then it gets submerged in the bath for several hours.  Electricity is applied at a low voltage to move the copper ions from the anode to the cathode.  To get a good plate, this can take hours or days.
Each piece takes 2-10 days to complete.
